Math Team

The Senior High math team competes in the Genesee Valley North league against 7 local schools. Students answer questions covering a wide variety of high school math topics including algebra, probability, geometry, trigonometry, and logic. Students begin the competition by answer 5 sets of questions independently. Next are 2 rounds of relay questions, where each student completes his own problem, but hands the answer to the next team member who needs the first answer to complete their own question. The competition ends with a set of 10 questions that the students work on together as a team.
Students who are in the top 15 in the league are invited to compete for the Genesee Valley All-Star team in two additional meets. In the first meet, students compete at RIT against the Monroe County schools. At the final meet of the season, the All-Star team competes against other All-Star teams from across the state.
