Junior/Senior High is a time to begin to add depth to information/knowledge learned during the elementary years. As such, students at this level are often engaged in research projects and learning activities which go beyond rote memorization. Instead, secondary students are often asked to synthesize and apply information/skills from a variety of areas in order to demonstrate their learning. The following sites can be especially useful to students at this level as they begin to specialize in their knowledge acquisition. Regents Reviews Online- It's not too early to start reviewing for exams! Regents Exam Prep (from Oswego CSD) Regents Review Online (from PBS) General Sites LCSD Research Project Resource Provides a complete listing of resources related to conducting student-generated research papers. The Online Field Trip An excellent resource for online field trips. Your students can take a field trip to rainforests, salt marshes, and volcanoes, to name a few places. Complete with teacher resources. The High School Hub This site is divided into core subject areas, each of which contain numerous links to resources within that area. Included are subject guides for each area as well as links to sites specifically for the secondary student (i.e. The Driving Test, Daily SAT Question, Test Preparation, etc) Regents Exam Prep Center This site has been specifically designed to help high school students prepare for the NYS Regents exams. Includes exam prep for the new Math A exam. The WebQuest Page Webquests are inquiry based units, involving a variety of themes, that promote higher order thinking among students. Using the Internet as a resource, students work in collaborative groups to gather information and complete a series of tasks. Culmination of the quest typically involves the creation of a product or involvement with a wider audience. Understanding the Internet A collection of links to educate students about smart Internet searching. Art The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art Show your students one of the greatest art collections in the world. The site is divided into sections. Each section includes information on the history of its period's great artists, influences, and identifying characteristics as well as background information on specific artists.
